Fire Safety Programs
It is the intent of the Fire Safety Program to establish uniform procedures for students, employees and guests in case of a fire or other emergency at The University of Alabama. These guidelines are in compliance with the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Life Safety Code 101 and the American with Disabilities Act. Detailed information about the UA Fire Safety Program can be found in the Fire Safety Policies and Procedures Manual.
NFPA 101 Life Safety Code requires that a Fire Watch be instituted anytime a Sprinkler System, Fire Alarm or other Suppression System is hindered or out of service. Additionally, UAPD (205-348-5454) and Environmental Health & Safety (205-348-5905) must be contacted to advise that a system is out of service and a Fire Watch has been posted. More information can be found in the Fire Watch Procedures.
