Many university buildings are equipped with automatic sprinkler systems. The type of sprinkler system in each building varies and the routine maintenance and inspection criterion also varies accordingly. At present, the sprinkler systems on campus are inspected and maintained by the University of Alabama Facilities Plumbing Shop in cooperation with an outside contractor.
