ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH AND SAFETY

Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), a part of Operations, at The University of Alabama (University) ensures the safety of all stakeholders: faculty, staff, students, alumni and visitors.
EHS is responsible for the assessment, development, implementation and review of strategies, policies and programs dedicated to safety. EHS focuses on risk avoidance measures, internal safety and environmental assessment systems.  EHS ensures compliance with University policies, regulatory requirements (local, state and federal) and best practices.

EHS is made up of four units, each concentrating on a different area of safety: Environmental, Lab, Fire and Life. To be on the University of Alabama campus is to be in an area that one or more of these units has evaluated to ensure that the highest level of safety and wellness extends to all.
