Safety Plan:
Safety plans focus on hazards associated with a specific task, and steps that will be taken to mitigate the risks associated with these hazards. Safety plans often include: risk assessment, safety procedures and protocols, applicable trainings or certifications held, and any controls that will be implemented.
SOP (Standard Operating Procedure):
An SOP is a step-by-step breakdown of instructions needed to perform a specific task so that the task is performed precisely and consistently. Proper use of an SOP standardizes procedures, minimizing risk of incident and injury.
Submissions of safety plans and SOPs should use the provided safety plan template and SOP template for projects/demonstrations, respectively. Submissions with incomplete information may be sent back for additional review, delaying the approval process.
